Coeur d’Alene: City Council to Remove Prayer from Town Meetings to Avoid Being Sued by Satanists — Anti-Christian Vote Set for June 7

Coeur d’Alene’s city council is set to vote on whether prayer will continue to precede town hall meetings, as it has for decades, or if God should be removed from Coeur d’Alene City Council for good.
This comes just after the Coeur d’Alene City Council voted to open up town hall meetings to all “faiths” — including the Satanic Temple — in order to uphold what some council members called ‘inclusive’ government practices.
Speaking to the CDA Press, the Democrat endorsed Coeur d’Alene mayor, Jim Hammond, said other cities have been sued by satanists for not allowing them to speak before meetings, adding that “It’s possible we [Coeur d’Alene] could end up having to dispense with it [the word of God] all together,”
The question set for vote: “Should the practice of invocations before council meetings continue, and, if so, what guidelines should apply?”
For decades, City Council invocations in Coeur d’Alene were previously managed by the ministerial association, headed by local pastor, Paul Van Noy, but that was before opening up invocations to all, including the Satanic Temple.
Speaking to the CDA Press, Paul Van Noy said he had refused satanists and occultists from giving prayer before town meetings in the past, and now, anyone is allowed — including satanists — to open up Coeur d’Alene’s City Hall meetings.
“Who we invoke becomes very important to me,” says Paul Van Noy, adding that “If a person is invoking another god, a different spirit, that’s a problem.”
Close to 70% of the population of Coeur d’Alene Idaho is some form of Christian, with many more claiming to agree with the moral guidance and principals upheld by Christian doctrine. Thus, the question remains: Why would Coeur d’Alene City Council attempt to remove prayer from government?
Controversial councilwoman, Christie Wood, claims the invocation change was “inclusive” and that it would “allow more churches” to participate in prayer before meetings.
For now, prayer is set to be removed from Coeur d’Alene City Council meetings altogether, regardless of opposition from the majority Christian community.
