Dan Gookin’s Descent Into Madness — What Happened To This Coeur d’Alene City Councilor?

I Used To Be A Conservative. Now, I’m Just An A**hole.

Disgraced Coeur d’Alene City Council member Dan Gookin continues his public descent into madness, and he is recording it online for all the world to see.

Gookin is best known for his 1991 book “DOS for Dummies,” which sparked a massive line of “For Dummies” books that everyone who has ever visited a Barnes and Noble will remember.

Unfortunately for Mr. Gookin, it appears as though he sold the rights to this series of books early on to a major conglomerate who has gone on to publish over 330 different titles in the For Dummies series. Gookin only wrote 33 of them.

Staff at the Idaho Tribune have scoured the internet for a copy of “How Not To Be An Asshole, For Dummies,” but have been unable to find one. We did, however, find this book, written by Ann DeLaney:

Looks like a good read…

Gookin moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1993, just a couple of years after selling “Just 7,500” copies of his DOS for Dummies book.

He then went on to create a Conservative organization called OpenCdA, which served as a watchdog group against corruption in the local government.

He also, according to sources close to the matter, was a huge Ron Paul supporter during Paul’s bid for president in 2012.

With his website, OpenCdA.com, Gookin went on to attack liberal CdA Council member, and founder of the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations, Christie Wood, calling her “Sergeant Cupcake.”

According to this document allegedly written by fellow council member Christie Wood, housed on the Spokesman’s website, Gookin indeed called Christie Wood “a snake.”

We agree with that assesment. What happened Dan?

Gookin eventually won a seat on city council, but he lost so much more.

Along with his weight and his “man bun,” Gookin also lost his wife in a divorce, as well as his common sense.

He can now be found, frequenting Gay Pride parades holding signs that say “Love is Love.”

At the raucous December 10th meeting of the North Idaho College Board of Trustees, Gookin can be seen in the crowd of left-wing disruptors who brought the meeting to a grinding halt when, according to the Cd’A Police Department, “one gal at meeting was upset and mad and pulled fire alarm on way out.

What happened to you Dan?

Recently, Gookin has used his YouTube channel to make fun of Christians and conservatives.

Gookin even voted to end prayer at Coeur d’Alene city council meetings calling it “3 minutes of wasted time.”

In his most recent video, Gookin likened newly elected NIC Trustee Mike Waggoner to the KKK.

Considering the current political climate, this is more of a threat than “satire.”

What happened to you?

We want the old Dan Gookin back.
