Idaho Democrat candidate for Governor, Dave Reilly, Considers Opponent Shelby Rognstad a “Friend & Ally” in Rare Display of Civil Political Rivalry

Democrat candidate for governor, Dave Reilly, considers his opponent, Shelby Rognstad a “friend and ally” in a civil message posted to social media — breaking with the otherwise hostile and combative tone Idaho Democrats have taken over the years.

While Reilly took on a civil tone when addressing his political opponent, he did not receive the same grace, as Shelby Rognstad, current mayor of Sandpoint, fired off a round of allegations and accusations in an aggressive and unhinged attack against his friendly foe.

Even the official Idaho Democrat Party took to social media with aggressive and unhinged attacks on Reilly’s character — attacks that Reilly says are “uncalled for” and “represent the epitome of why Democrats need reason and calm” in exchange for what he calls “emotional extremism.”

While Idaho’s Democrats have embraced extremism in all its forms, from Antifa rioters, to abortion on demand, Reilly has called for calm, taking a ‘middle road’ approach to the Democrat party, something not seen from Democrats in decades.

Reilly’s stances on various topics might sound familiar to the Democrats of yesterday, with fiscally liberal policies aiding families and child bearing, to socially conservative causes such as limiting abortion in all its forms.

Reilly, sounds more like a reasonable candidate, when put up against extremist left-wing policies, such as those currently occupying the White House.
