Twitter Philanthropist @Pulte Launches Suit Against Former PulteGroup COO For “Nefarious Smear Campaign”

PulteGroup inc. is one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. The company, which was founded by William J. Pulte in 1953, has built over 775,000 homes across the nation, and is ranked 284th on the Fortune 500 list.

In 2016, just two years before William Pulte passed away, Ryan R. Marshall was tapped to become the company’s new CEO.

Recently the company has been rocked by a scandal involving (at least) one of its high ranking executives who allegedly engaged in a “nefarious smear campaign” against the grandson of the company’s founder.

Brandon Jones, the incoming COO at PulteGroup Inc. was fired after Twitter philanthropist Bill Pulte filed a lawsuit against him earlier this month.

According to pultelawsuit.com, the lawsuit alleges that Jones was ”Stalking, harassing, and defaming The Pultes as part of nefarious smear campaign.”

Speaking with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Bill Pulte said “My grandfather spent 68 years of his life making sure the company was secure, so I view this as a spiritual mission. I love this company and the majority of the employees are awesome. But I think you have the potential of some rogue executives that maybe convinced themselves that the rules didn’t apply to them.”

The lawsuit continues, alleging that Jones used a “bot network to give the fake impression of engagement” lending credibility to the anonymous smear campaign.

Pulte’s attorneys have also notified the company’s general counsel, Todd Sheldon, to preserve documents related to Sheldon’s personal Twitter account, which was deleted after Pulte contacted the board of directors this week, Pulte said. “That deletion was very odd.”

PulteGroup inc. is not engaged in any home constructions in Idaho at the moment.

Idaho is full.
